Only meant to maim, or seriously injure.

After having a rather sleepless night, I managed to bounce out of bed just before midday.

That’s rather early for me, don’t you think? And bounce really isn’t the right word…

Roll, dump, groan, strain, struggle…

Well today, today, I ventured out in the big wide world that is Hastings. *shock horror*

So after a shower and all that jazz – I was wearing my new denim shorts that I bought with Christmas money from Farmers. They’re snazzy.

I then hooned it round the back roads to Havelock, because me being me, I was running late. Yay for the back roads, because if I hadn’t have taken them, we seriously would have missed the movie.

Got to Friends’s and we began walking the five minutes to the cinema.

There we were just casually walking and who do we bump into? But my old boss, or the ex-chief reporter at the Hawke’s Bay Today communities.

It was a very speak-of-the-devil thing because I had just been explaining how I was let go.

I said hello etc, but the entire meeting was so AWKWARD. Kind of wish I hadn’t seen her, or said hello.

Anyway, we continued onto the cinema for HARRY POTTER.

It was so exciting and the movie was absolutely amazing. I think they ended it in a very good spot that sort of created an ending.

Poor Dobby and Hedwig! Almost made me cry. But it didn’t, because my heart is black.

The only thing that I question in the entire movie is the fact Hermione put a memory charm on her parents. I don’t remember this happening in the book. Did it?

Guess I’ll just have to re-read it, actually them. I’m going to hunt all seven down in one of the several boxes that I still haven’t unpacked from moving back to Hell 12 months ago.

They’re all piled outside my bedroom door looking at me like a sad puppy, with sad puppy eyes. It is kind of pathetic that I never unpacked, but as you can probably guess, I wasn’t planning on staying very long, let alone 12 months.

So there they will stay. One day, when I actually manage to escape Hell, I will be thankful that I did not unpack them, because it will mean less packing! Always looking on the bright side, haha.

So I really enjoyed Harry Potter and was sad for it to be over. Bring on number two! I’m going to start counting the days. Actual.

We then started to walk back to Friend’s, but I got distracted by the sale at Zarb’s. Yes, they’re still open in Havelock with lots of cheap prices. I bought this awesome box that I saw months ago, when Zarb wasn’t closing down and I fell in love with at first glance, alas it was too expensive then, but a lot cheaper now!
I will put my CDs in it. I have many of them.

We then wandered round to her parents, where her Son was. Turns out he’s angry at me because I took Angry Birds away from him the other day when I was visiting. He’s four.

I GOT A FOUR-YEAR-OLD ADDICTED TO ANGRY BIRDS.

We then watched The Biggest Loser and had dinner. Then news time! Katie talked pretty much the whole time through the news, while I was trying to actually watch it. Some people just don’t understand my obsession with the news. Or, more, how much I’ve changed in the few years I’ve been at uni.
I’m a news addict – a media whore. Yeah, I went there.

Then it was home time, where I was met with the special Leader/Courier supplement, which took me more than a week to put together and got no credit for. My name is nowhere in sight.

Yay.

So I am now relaxing in my cave on my comfortable bed, drinking coke zero and was watching that god-awful dance programme on C4.
Thankfully, that’s finished and I’m now watching Castle. 😀

Surprisingly, we just made the weekly shopping list and  it did not end in blood and guts been splatted on the walls this time. BONUS.

Tonight I foresee myself finishing watching Castle, then Sons of Anarchy (Jax OMG *swoon*) and then probably season 3 of Scrubs.

I might even dabble in a bit of cover letter writing, but doubtful.

Not. In. The. Mood.

What a year…

Well, this year hasn’t been that great. Frankly, I’m glad it’s almost over.

But, if it hadn’t have been for a shit year, I wouldn’t have been able to do some of the stuff I have done. There has been some pretty awesome stuff happen this year too.

So this is my year in review. Mostly it’s going to be photos and I’ll try and find one exciting thing from each month.

The Big Day Out. Got to spend some time in Auckland and hang out with my friend Natch. Also got to see Muse play. Tre awesome.

Then there was getting one of my photos published on 3news with the freak rainfall. It’s the small things, I guess. Thanks goes to Jono Hutchinson for seeing them on twitter.

I actually don’t think anything exciting happened in February, so let’s move right along to March, because there was much fun had that month.

paramore 018
Paramore kicked of the month of gig madness that was March. Followed was Backstreet Boys, Cobra Starship and Lady Gaga.

Skip forward a few months and I had a trip to Christchurch, where I met the most annoying cat ever. His name is Roddy. Seriously, most annoying ever. He can smell food a mile away and then gets all up in your grill.

And the one that liked to get in the way of everything…

A casual Sunday drive up Te Mata Peak, when the weather down below was crap-tastic, resulted in some pretty amazing views up above:

A trip to Auckland for the 30 Seconds to Mars gig. A dream come true. Had been waiting to see them live for years and they blew me away.

Another trip to Christchurch for my College House reunion allowed me to get back in touch with a few friends and make some new ones. I also got attitude from a cat and got to see the ‘quake damage first hand.

I also had to go to my horrible Intermediate Reunion where I knew nobody, except the photographer who I worked with.

I guess that’s another highlight, I finally got a job and was sent out to the far reaches of Hawke’s Bay for a story, where I got a chance at taking some awesome photos:

And I flashed my boobs for NZGirl for Breast Cancer, but that picture is not going to be shown here.

Lastly, I got me a fancy new hair do and said goodbye to my super long hair that I have had for years.

I then also lost my job :(, so I am starting 2011 just like I started 2010, unemployed and living with my parents. But this is going to change. I’m positive of it. I’m either going to get a job and all my hard work will have paid off, or I will be returning to AUT to do my Masters in Communication – for more hard work.

So look out 2011, you’re not going to be a repeat of 2010 and I am going to make it back to the city that I love – Auckland.

Bring on the New Year.

Welcome to my life.

My day started at 1pm. Yes. You read that correctly. I did not emerge from my cave until 1pm.

But what do you expect from someone who is unemployed? Down on their arse, nothing to do and was kept awake most of the night by the extreme wind and heat that decided to hang around like a bad smell?

Didn’t think so.

The day didn’t progress much from there. I partook in the normal human condition of having to feed my face (turkey, camenbert, cranberry all in a nice wrap and a piece of fudge on the side) as well as guzzling the several glasses of coke zero that I need for my body to keep functioning at normal levels.

Retreating back to my cave of a bedroom I watched the original Fame. Now, I have seen this before, but it was actually super boring. Why do people make such a big fuss about it?

Honestly. BORING.

I hate to see what they did with the remake. I thought there would be more performing like in High School Musical, now that is awesome and what a movie about singing and dancing should be like.

By the time this had finished, I was able to watch the American version of The Biggest Loser. I don’t agree with the ways they lose weight, but it is rather hilarious to watch as you shove toblerone into your chomps while Bob and Gillian are yelling at contestants to get their arses moving.

Six pm then meant news time and as a media junkie, I got my daily dose of news from TVNZ.

I ❤ them.

Then I proceeded to feed my face again with bacon, avocado and cheese burgers. Plural. Two.

Anyone else thinking fatty, fatty, fatty?

Just me then…

I proceeded to rot my brain, as my Grandparents would call it, by watching Parks and Recreation: “I’m really hot, can we take a break?” “Ok, let’s blow in each other’s faces.”

Then I decided to finally have a shower. Because I can wait until 8pm to get clean and smell like a peach again. That’s just the way I roll. The unemployed way I roll.

Yeah, you’re totally jealous of my life right now aren’t you?

I caught the tale end of How I Met Your Mother and finally realised this post is rather self absorbed and boring (glass shattering).

For the evening, I foresee myself watching The Event, The Big C and then probably some of season 2 of Scrubs and probably The Young Victoria.

I’ll try and sleep around 2am while listening to Miley Cyrus’ “When I Look At You”, but toss and turn and wake up numerous times until I decided to haul my arse out of bed at some point tomorrow morning.

Welcome to my life.

There’s no escaping…

Escape the Fate is back again with a new self-titled album (still to be released as far as I can tell, but I’ll update once I know.)

The first single “Issues” is already up on youtube inclusive of video. It seems like same ol’ ETF, but you can tell from the outset it is not as spectacular as past single “The Flood”.

I knew as soon as I first heard “The Flood” it was an amazing song that I will still be listening to in several years time, but with “Issues”, I just don’t feel that. After only one listen I’m very much in the “meh” column. But before I pass a final judgment, I’ll listen a few more times. It is sure to grow on me.

I am a little bit confused, mostly because I’m getting my information from Wikipedia (good one!), so naturally confusion follows and I shouldn’t take the info I have as fact – there is another single, from the same album titled “Massacre”.

Currently it is an audio only version, but will probably be followed by a video. It’s much more screamo than I was expecting, but it is called massacre – just wasn’t prepared for the massacre on my ears.

Note to self: turn it down.

Once again, at first listen, it’s nothing too exciting, but appeal will likely grow.

I just can’t hate Escape the Fate, it’s in my blood to like them. My dark and twisty emo blood.

Gots the rhythm.

Plain White T’s have a new album out – The Wonders of the Younger.

I’m as of yet to procure a copy, but I will. I’ll find it. You can’t hide from me.

As I don’t really listen to the radio anymore, I had no idea they had a new single out  – “Rhythm of Love”, released back in July – and have changed up their sound.

No longer does Tom Higgenson take the lead vocals, but Tim Lopez steps up. It is an interesting change, yes Tom is still in the band, but it’s like they’ve played musical chairs.

Below is the first single from their new album:
