Sloths, seals and cupcakes.

To be honest, I don’t really know how the week passed so quickly.  One minute it was Monday and then it was the weekend. Life is going by so fast right now and I’m starting to wonder whether it is all worth it. (Life that is.)

First up in the week that was, from Buzzfeed (naturally) were these 30 best headlines of The Argus – a small paper in back-water UK, I think. They tell it like it is. My favourite:

I knew there was something suspicious going on when SMH reported this winter was one of the warmest Sydney has had in a while. Typical.

I NEED ALL THE COVERGIRL HUNGER GAMES MAKE-UP. ALL THE MAKE-UP.

Quote of the week goes to Ashton Kutcher, of all people. I’m not a huge fan of him, but I came across this quote on one of the blogs I follow.

The sexist thing in the entire world is being really smart and being thoughtful, and being generous. Everything else is crap.

I really need this sloth necklace:

And this bag and/or t-shirt:

City chic has also released a dress which I really like in gunmetal. I now want it even more. Thoughts?

And finally – only in New Zealand:

Aussie Curves – LBD

A lot of fashion blogs I follow tend to be plus size fashion blogs, because obviously.

So when reading a fair few of them, I see them posting about Aussie Curves, which is a weekly blogging challenge developed by Danimezza, where plus size bloggers blog about the weekly outfit theme.

I have decided to start doing a few of the Aussie Curves blogs myself. Now I may not do every week, because some weeks are just too hectic for me, but I’m definitely going to try!

This week’s theme is LBD and what a perfect week to start with when I have just bought a great little black dress in my first ever ASOS order.

Behold the skull edged skater dress:

Yes, I am wearing jandals. Don’t judge me. Sydney has turned up the heat quite suddenly, so out come the jandals. Plus, I was just going for a short wander (read: shopping) around the city.

I let my hair dry naturally today and just left it out. I actually really need a haircut, cause it’s gotten a bit unmanageable again. I paired the dress with my new Deathly Hallows symbol necklace. I left my make-up basic today – just some bb cream and a bit of mineral powder.

Close-up of the skull/floral pattern. One of the retail assistants at Westfield Sydney complemented me on the dress – solidifying my decision to actually keep it.

Side-shot to show my leggings. I really need to work on my modeling. Also need to find a better place to take photos.

Dress: ASOS Curve
Leggings: City Chic
Shoes: Havaianas (I got this pair from the Sydney Topshop store)

Now to figure out how to add this to the blog hop…

My first ASOS order.

I did it. I finally did it. I have placed my first ASOS order.

I have been so dubious about the whole thing that I have never fully committed.

There have been so many items of clothing I have liked over the past few months, but I could never bring myself to buy them because of not being able to try them on before parting with my hard-earned dosh.

I would see so many things I would love to own, they would be reasonably priced and I would ignore them. Just because I didn’t want to have the hassle of getting them, them not fitting and having to return them.

Then I would return several months later and see the same items at a reduced rate! And still I would not buy.

But after agonising over it for several days and doing a lot of research into sizing where I compared measurements with City Chic (because I know my size there), I finally succumbed and splurged a little.

I just hope everything is the right size and I don’t have to return anything. Because I really, really don’t want to. Because I love them all.

Below is what I am anxiously awaiting to arrive.

Teal lace dress with off the shoulder:

Skater dress in skull boarder print:

Smart duckling tee:

Leggings in denim look. (Yes, jeggings. I’m so ashamed to admit it myself, please don’t judge me. I swear I will not wear them as pants. I reckon they will look great with the skull dress. NO PANTS, I promise. Please don’t judge me.)

So that’s my first order. If all goes well, it probably won’t be my last. I’ll keep you posted.

Apparently this week I like things on tea.

Things I’ve been reading on the web this week are a bit light. I’ve been quite busy at work and not really wanting to read anything when coming home.

However, there are a few gems.

I found a nifty new site to create a portfolio on specifically for journalists called Pressfolios. This I might have to get in on at some point. Some info on it here.

This makes me sad. Because, everything. Now I feel like watching Curly Sue.

I have a person. I miss this person everyday.

I found these extremely funny. Because, history nerd.

This is probably my favourite:

Quote of the week goes to Eleanor Roosevelt via The Newsroom:

Women are like teabags; you never know how strong it is until it’s in hot water.

Problems only book lovers understand is the story of my life.

This makes me feel like there is no hope for the human race. People who do this are bastards. What started out as a pro-feminism campaign turned sour when someone decided to turn a photo into a meme. Comments associated with it were quite horrible. What has the world come to?

I love this gif. It came via News Cat Gifs with the title, “When sources think they’ve manipulated me during the interview… until they see the story.” So much truth. So much.

Peanut butter and banana pancakes

I have been feeling like pancakes for a few weeks now. And you know how if you don’t satisfy a craving, sometimes it just keeps getting stronger? Yeah, that.

So I was watching an episode of Switched at Birth yesterday (don’t judge me) and they had made peanut butter pancakes. I immediately thought, ‘Mmmmm peanut butter pancakes, I need to try that.’

And so I Googled for a recipe and found this one for peanut butter and banana pancakes.

A win-win, as we had three bananas sitting on the bench which were starting to look a bit passed it. If I didn’t make something with them this weekend, they were destined for the rubbish shoot.

I got Man Piece to go and buy the few missing ingredients and this morning I made them.

They were heavenly.
