Rebecca Black – reprieved?

I have just watched this video here, about Rebecca Black.

Now before you all cringe, yes I know it’s another blog on the person who has made the worst song ever.

BUT ACTUALLY.

I still maintain that, but I’m giving her a reprieve.

She can actually sing. It is the song and the tweaking of the recordings that have made it the worst song ever.

Not the singer. At one point in the video she sings a bit of the American national anthem and she can actually sing. Sure, she’s not the best, but it is nowhere near the cringe worthy factor that is ‘Friday’.

That is all.

Don’t dis her, dis the song and the stupid producers of the song.

Worst. Song. Ever.

Two words: Rebecca Black.

Who the hell decided to give her a recording contract?

SERIOUSLY.

She has made the worst song ever. I don’t understand how people can think this is mildly good. Especially those that signed her.

WHAT WERE THEY THINKING?

It’s so repetitive and her voice is whiny and annoying.

And whoever thought auto-tune was a good idea? Please go away.

The lyrics, I think, are the worst: “Kickin’ in the front seat, Sittin’ in the back seat, Gotta make my mind up, Which seat can I take?”

Yeah, cause that is going to go down in the history books. That’s totally going to be quoted in graffiti and inked on people’s arms. /sarcasm

This makes me wonder what has happened to the music industry. Why can’t we get great music like The Beatles and Queen? There doesn’t seem to be anything that measures up to that standard of music.

Instead we get artists like Rebecca Black and Justin Bieber. *shudder*

I guess the next thing I should question, is why do people go head over heels for it? Is the next generation just that stupid?

At least Justin Bieber is bearable. Rebecca Black is not.

She makes me want to run and hide.

If you really want to see what she is all about, here is her video, but I can’t say I didn’t warn you – it’s bad. Like actual.

How… meh.

Turns out staying up till 5am watching videos of people popping boils and cysts on youtube does not make for a very productive day.

I caught the tale end of the John Barrowman documentary, I love him. It breaks my heart he is gay. Then watched Nancy Drew of all things. Never been an ND fan, not having read the books or anything, so I was a bit miffed about the entire movie. I also caught Greek. It’s such a good programme, but I hate how NZ television only ever plays it on weekend afternoons. Some programming choices shock me. It’s not just Greek.

Then I shocked myself and actually did some exercise. Yes, I actually went for a walk. Took me 30 minutes too, so I’ve met that requirement for the day.

Naturally with exercise, comes music. Listened to one of my playlists of songs that I named “over and over”, because I can listen to them over and over without getting sick of them:
1. When I look at you – Miley Cyrus
2. Poker Face – Glee Cast
3. The Flood – Escape the Fate
4. Monsters – Matchbook Romance
5. Swing Life Away – Rise Against
6. Teenage Dream – Glee Cast
7. Man in the Mirror – Michael Jackson
8. Brick by boring brick – Paramore
There is more to the playlist, but that’s all I got through on my walk. It was hot and the sun was shining. Didn’t want to spend too much time out there.

Watched some Scrubs, because me and Scrubs are synonymous, then fell asleep watching the news. #fail

Now I’m watching Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. It has to be my least favourite movie and book out of the seven. I still enjoy it, but not favourite.

Perhaps tonight I should not stay up late watching videos of boils and cysts being squeezed on youtube. It takes it out of you. It even took my funny sarcastic ways. But there is something strangely satisfying about it seeing one being squeezed, because you don’t get that many yourself. Haha. Maybe I should stop talking about cysts.

Tomorrow I aim to bring the funny back somehow, but tonight, I’ll finish watching HP then maybe try watching 10,000 BC, but it may be a bit out of my taste range. Also going to try and finish reading the 5th Percy Jackson. I’m so close!

I did say my life was thrilling! /sarcasm

There’s no escaping…

Escape the Fate is back again with a new self-titled album (still to be released as far as I can tell, but I’ll update once I know.)

The first single “Issues” is already up on youtube inclusive of video. It seems like same ol’ ETF, but you can tell from the outset it is not as spectacular as past single “The Flood”.

I knew as soon as I first heard “The Flood” it was an amazing song that I will still be listening to in several years time, but with “Issues”, I just don’t feel that. After only one listen I’m very much in the “meh” column. But before I pass a final judgment, I’ll listen a few more times. It is sure to grow on me.

I am a little bit confused, mostly because I’m getting my information from Wikipedia (good one!), so naturally confusion follows and I shouldn’t take the info I have as fact – there is another single, from the same album titled “Massacre”.

Currently it is an audio only version, but will probably be followed by a video. It’s much more screamo than I was expecting, but it is called massacre – just wasn’t prepared for the massacre on my ears.

Note to self: turn it down.

Once again, at first listen, it’s nothing too exciting, but appeal will likely grow.

I just can’t hate Escape the Fate, it’s in my blood to like them. My dark and twisty emo blood.

Gots the rhythm.

Plain White T’s have a new album out – The Wonders of the Younger.

I’m as of yet to procure a copy, but I will. I’ll find it. You can’t hide from me.

As I don’t really listen to the radio anymore, I had no idea they had a new single out  – “Rhythm of Love”, released back in July – and have changed up their sound.

No longer does Tom Higgenson take the lead vocals, but Tim Lopez steps up. It is an interesting change, yes Tom is still in the band, but it’s like they’ve played musical chairs.

Below is the first single from their new album:
