Action!

Today has been all about getting my life back on track.

Starting with getting some form of income back into my bank account. That meant calling WINZ.

JOY OF JOYS.

Its hold music is awful, it needs to do something about that. But the good news, my benefit had not been canceled, only suspended. So by going in to the office and showing that I had not gotten any wages for the last month, it would be reinstated. With back pay!

THANKS TAX PAYERS.

I was then proactive about finding a job. Calling newspapers. One thing I have found is that the smaller community papers don’t advertise in mainstream job sites. They advertise within themselves. So if you’re not in the city, tough luck finding them. Thus why I’m being proactive. Calling them shows you’re keen and you find out if they have any jobs straight away.

Or at least that’s my thinking.

I found a few more suitable jobs on mainstream sites too and have applied for one. Also got two emails saying “We’re starting the shortlisting process. We’ll be in touch.”

So the action plan is looking good.

Zoom, zoom, zoom!

I watch far too much Scrubs.

It’s action time!

Needless to say, this morning I was not feeling that flash.

I wasn’t extremely hungover, just in a very “I could demolish 10 cheeseburgers” hungover. No panadol was needed. That’s a bonus.

So I got me a zinger burger. Actually I got two. Actually I got a tower burger. Technically it was a zinger tower burger. Times two.

FATTY FATTY FATTY.

Meh.

Today was a contemplative day. Basically thinking what should I do next? What is the next logical step in progressing, in getting another job? And where do I want to go in life?

Just a few questions that have been weighing on me today.

I had gotten into the thinking of moving to Wellington and now I might have to change that. I tend to have the habit of getting attached to things I don’t yet have and then become extremely disappointed when I don’t get them. Case and point: the recent job possibility.

So I have got a semi-plan.

Firstly, I need to ring WINZ, because currently I am not getting any money in and there are still things that I need to be paying for like my phone, and I am going deeper and deeper into overdraft. This needs to stop, because I worked so hard to get out of it in the last year.

Then, I will call and register with Adecco. Hopefully they will be able to tell me about more jobs that are going, or enlighten me to other jobs that I could be doing, while using my degree.

I will then put a call into one of my journalism lecturers to see if they know of anything going and also, because if I didn’t get a job, I was going to go back and do my Masters. But having thought about it, I really don’t want to. I’m ready to work, I want to work and studying right now would just not be productive for me. I will always have that option if I choose to do it, but right now I think it would be more beneficial if I could get more experience first. But I will discuss this option with lecturer as well, because it may be the only option I have.

I am not going to sit around Hastings for another year. There is no way.

Which brings me to the next thing I will do. I will apply for all the jobs on the job websites as possible that I think I will be suitable for. Even dabbling into the media consultancy positions.
But in the not wanting to sit around Hastings, I need to move on, even if it is not a journalism job. I will pick the city that I want to be in and I will find a retail position, hopefully. As that is really the only other job that I am trained to do.

But honestly, I’m a smart person with two qualifications behind me, I could possibly find something that I can still use those with. Like an assistant or something. I have wonderful communication skills, a very nice phone manner and I know my way around a computer.

So this is everything that I have been thinking of today. It’s good to get it out into the written word. I have also already applied for one job down in Wellington. Fingers crossed. I probably won’t hear anything from that until it closes in a week’s time.

The plan, I think, is good and it has stopped me freaking out about what I had to do next. So it is now time for me to sleep, because I have a lot of phone calls tomorrow and put the plan into action.

Soz for the long post!

Rule 34.

Last night we discovered there is Captain Planet porn. Yes there really is. I’m not going to put it on here, but you’re quite welcome to google it for yourself.

This just really does confirm Rule 34, which I also learned last night.

Urban Dictionary describes it as: “generally accepted internet rule that states that pornography or sexually related material exists for any conceivable subject.

I did a lot of learning didn’t I? THANKS TWITTER.

I ventured into town today, went to the hairdresser to go buy my GHD straightener, but they were a bit more than I planned for – $359. However, it does come with a travel hairdryer and this really cool antique looking mirror. So I might just take the plunge and buy it. Which means I have to pull $59 out of my ass.

Fingers crossed for that job aye! Which I had the interview confirmed today. One job interview in Wellington on Monday. Yippee!

Then went to Pak’n’sav and I have to say, love the self check-outs. Although the check-out people are there to do it for you, they make awkward small talk, which I really didn’t have the time for, or care for.
So I slipped through the self check-out and didn’t have to talk to a single soul in the supermarket. I’d classify that as a win. Everybody in supermarkets annoy me.

Got my marks back for my photography assignment – 7/10. On to the next one then!

Went for a walk and played nice with some of the local mongel mob that were sifting round the streets of Flaxmere.
So here I am, sitting around like a lazy bum again watching Two and a half Men, which I can’t for the life of me, figure out why.

But tonight, I’m going to get some more job applications done, just in case, yanno. Don’t put all your eggs in one basket type thing and possible hit up some more photography. Also contemplating watching Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, because apparently TVNZ are not playing it on Sunday, but skipping straight to Goblet of Fire.

You must watch them in order! So says the God that is JK Rowling.

And according to Rule 34, there must be Harry Potter porn. Think about that one.

Ew.
