As long as you know that I’m God, we’ll be ok.

I am always so out of the loop, because I don’t really listen to the radio anymore. So when a band releases a new song, I’m usually the last to know. Or there is a new band… I just don’t really know what is popular on the radio anymore.

I know what bands I like and I know where to go to discover new music that I would like.

Anyway… it brings me to just casually discovering that Paramore have released a new song off brand new eyes.

I had NO IDEA.

They have released ‘Playing God’ and the video has debuted on YouTube this week. It’s very new, only about 900 views thus far.

Haley has dyed her hair pink – LOVE IT.

This song is one of my favourites off brand new eyes. When I first listened to the album, this was the one that really stuck out on that listen. So I’m glad they decided to release it.

The video essentially shows different ways that Haley is “playing god”… fitting.

There is one scene where she poisons her fellow band members. It actually reminds me of Lady Gaga ‘Paparazzi’. Whether this is a nod to her or not, who knows?

Watch the video below.

Romancing again.

November 22 is fast approaching and I am getting more excited by the day. What happens on the 22nd you ask? My Chemical Romance release their first album since The Black Parade in 2006 – Danger Days: The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys.

!!!!!!!!

Anywho. I have been meaning to blog about the official video for “Na Na Na”, which was released about four weeks ago now.

Each guy has a persona, which is quite cool. Names are at the end of the video.

Just watching the video makes it feel that MCR are still on form and makes me super excited to hear the rest of the album.

They have also released, what I believe to be, their second single, “Sing”. It’s a little different to “Na Na Na”, but still equally good. I do love the quote on the picture for the video – “Would you destroy something perfect in order to make it beautiful?”

Update: unfortunately the video has been removed, but in a later post is the official music video for “Sing”.

How do you like dem apples

20120505-211610.jpg

I have always been anti-apple. Always Windows and usually the top of whatever I needed (Dad always knew which.)

That was until last year. I started to use Apple computers, albeit with Windows and they were so nice. I still don’t like the OS, but I can no longer deny the beauty of an apple computer.

That feeling has grown. I had never owned an Apple iPod until last year either. Having had many problems with other mp3 players I decided to go with what was thought of as the best brand.

Yeah… it lasted a good 12 months and then completely crapped itself.

However, I was still convinced to buy another. They do make one 0f the best mp3 players, even if they may not last that long.

As soon as I saw the new touch nano, I fell in love with it. I had to have one. So I did. This time investing in an extended warranty. So if it is to shit itself like my last one, I get a full replacement, basically no questions asked.

Now that is awesome.

So the new touch nano is so tiny. Barely bigger than a postage stamp, seriously. Whenever I stick it in my bag, I can never find it. I have taken to clipping it to my shirt now, because it is basically a massive clip. No more need for those pesky arm bands when you want to get out and do a bit of exercise with music. Whoever thought of doing that deserves a gold star. Or an apple… #seewhatIdidthere

The touch screen is exactly like an iPod touch or iPhone, so smooth and easy. But is it just the basics of an iPod. Strictly music, with the bells and whistles that now come with an mp3 player – radio, pedometer, clock…

The albums, songs, artists etc are now icons on the screen and during play, pause, repeat and shuffle are just merely a touch away. Sliding to the right takes you back, very handy.

There are only three buttons. The main button, which turns the pod on and off and the up and down volume buttons.

Another handy trick is when placing two fingers in opposite corners you can rotate the screen to whichever way you want/need to look at it.

You probably do need to see it to understand how awesome it is, but I would recommend it if you are in the market for a new mp3 player. Once again, apple has redesigned the mp3 market. Or, at least in my opinion they have.

Having just praised apple on their mp3 players, I will do it again with their phones.

My last phone was a Panasonic VS2. I had that puppy for four and a half years. It served me well.

Then it died.

It didn’t take much for me to decide on what phone I would get. I hadn’t liked any other phone that had come onto the market since I bought my trusty old Panasonic, but playing with Dad’s iPhone, I could see the benefits in having one for work purposes (I am now a journalist with an iPhone. Keeping that stereotype alive then, aren’t I?)

I was just going to get a 3GS, but then, when I finally had saved up enough money, the iPhone 4 was released. So I decided to just go for broke and get one. Despite some of the bad press it has had.

I have had no problems with it. It is just fantastic and a much needed upgrade from my previous phone. I honestly don’t know what I would do now if I did not have it.

Yes, it is now an extension of myself, I barely go anywhere without it. There have been jokes about me getting too attached to it. I know where to draw the line though, I hope.

I guess you could say I am now officially an “Apple fan girl”. Except I will not wait in a ridiculous line to get my hands on their newest product. I’d rather be patient and give it a couple weeks. It would just be a waste of my time otherwise. I got livin’ to do!

And if someone were to throw an iPhone 4 off a bridge. I would not jump off as well to save it. I might be an apple fan now, doesn’t mean I’m stupid.

Let me see your jazz hands.

The lyrics video for My Chemical Romance’s “Na Na Na” has been released on Youtube this week.

This seems to be a growing trend within the music industry of releasing a lyrics video ahead of an actual video. It makes one question why this is happening. Are singers no longer pronouncing their words enough for people to make sense of them? Or is it just another way or promotion?

I would guess the latter.

The video itself has a very 80s feel to it and, for lack of better words, rather trippy. If you’re not careful, it may bring on an epileptic fit, with all the flashing and changing of colours.

The more I listen to it, the more it starts to sound like a progression from The Black Parade and not a complete divergence.

Whatever their plan was in releasing a lyrics video, they have got my interest piqued even further.

Bring on November 22.

Trying out a few new things.

Today I just felt like making some cupcakes, as you do.

It was more because I had said I was going to make a peanut butter and jam cheesecake to @nessliddell but then I forgot to check the recipe before I went to the supermarket. So that has been put off till next week.

Instead I found some Betty Crocker’s frosting, so decided to try it. This is a great find because 1) Did not know we had Betty Crocker in New Zealand, 2) I found it at Pak’n’Sav Hastings, which is well known for not stocking even basic products (like 600ml Cokes or Watties Sweet Chilli Sauce – I mean come on, it is bottled but a mere few blocks away!) and 3) It is so goddamn delicious. I could eat it with a spoon, just like nutella.

Also my dear friend @LittleIchiban brought me back some Minnie’s Bake Shop sprinkles from the US of A “cha cha cha”. So I thought today was a brilliant time to use them, because why have them, if you aren’t going to use them?

So I just made a basic vanilla cupcake recipe which you can find here.

Here is the end result:
