Aussie Curves – Tee

This week’s Aussie Curves challenge is Tee.

I love t-shirts. I pretty much wear jeans and a tee (or just a nice top) everyday, it is the most comfortable thing for me to wear and my work is quite casual, so I don’t have to wear business-y type clothes often.

I got this t-shirt from ASOS in my recent order and I absolutely love it. The shoulder embellishments are just plastic gems sewed on and they sparkle a lot.

Sometimes they dig into my shoulder, especially when I have my bag on my shoulder, so I have to be quite careful not to rip them off. I hope none of them fall off, but I should be able to easily stitch them back on if they do.

Also I had my hair cut last weekend and it feels so much better now. Much lighter and thinner. I just got the hairdresser to thin it out with those razor scissors – I love them.

I really do love this tee, I’m so glad I bought it. I think it is going to be one of my favourites of the summer.

Tee: ASOS Curve
Jeans: City Chic
Cuff: This is the same one from last week that I took off a pair of shoes from Target. (I’m still trying to wear said shoes in so they don’t cause blisters, so haven’t worn them yet.)

Impulse purchases on City Chic because robots

I was just casually scrolling through my Facebook newsfeed earlier this evening when I saw a post from City Chic.

All it said was “Fancy something sweet?” and a link heading to the website.

I clicked on it thinking it would be more things added to sale items and I better have a peruse.

Little did I know it would lead to amazingness.

TURNS OUT there is a new section called Sweet Steals where there are 50 for $50 (& under). Every item is under $50. AMAZING.

Also, did I mention the robots?

Oh, ok. Well here they are! This is what I have purchased.

Black Robot Flippy Skirt only $30:

Black Robot So Cute Dress only $40:

(I actually saw someone wearing this on my way to the train station yesterday morning and was so epically jealous because I wanted it. Also, my co-worker has an entire dress made out of the same material, but not from City Chic.)

Crucifix Jewels Graffiti Tee only $20:

Skullz Hi Lo V Neck Top only $30:

The Sweet Steals section has plenty more skirts, dresses and tops, so definitely worth a look. (Look at me, promoting CC, nawwww.)

On The Web: Depression comics – read and learn

Print

In the past week on the web there have been two articles which have really stuck out for me which I am going to focus on. Both from Buzzfeed – where else? My love of Buzzfeed has grown again.

The first is on 21 Comics That Capture The Frustrations of Depression.

For me, this article is fantastic. If you can even call it an article.

It made me laugh and got me a bit teary, I will admit. But what it did most of all is start to bring me out of the small pit of depression I had fallen into last week. Sometimes laughing at yourself does that.

The other thing it does is serve as an educational piece – yes, really – for those who don’t suffer from depression, but know people who do.

One of the worst things you can say to someone who is depressed is get over it and that there are people out there in worse life situations than you. This just makes it worse, because you get depressed about being depressed because you really shouldn’t be because you have a better life than some.

Sometimes there is no reason for depression, it just is. You can search for the cause, but you will never find it.

Although not in the article itself, I think one of my all-time favourites is from Hyperbole and a Half. This woman is all kinds of amazing.

Another I quite enjoy is I Had a Black Dog. I’ve mentioned these ones before. I have both the books packed up in boxes somewhere in New Zealand. Some days I really wish they were here.

And the second article is 18 Controversial Facts About Being Fat You Need To Know.

This is also something I wish people would learn – just because someone is overweight or bigger than the “average” person, does not make them unhealthy. You do not see what they eat or what exercise they do, therefore you are not allowed to judge and criticise.

And finally, I laughed so much at these Harry Potter jokes.

Aussie Curves – Peplum

I only own one peplum top. I never really jumped on the craze like everyone else, it would seem. Possibly because I was not 100 per cent sold on the first one I purchased, therefore never ventured forth to buy more.

But the one I did buy, I LOVE the colour of it. Now I’m not usually one to wear a bright colourful top. Usually I’m dressed in the blacks and greys. But when I saw this colour it screamed at me “buy me, buy me!” So I did.

It’s acid and I love it.

It particularly goes well with a pair of dark jeans.

I actually wore this outfit a few weeks ago and instagram’d a picture of it. The idea to wear it like this was inspired by one of Danimezza’s previous posts. I had never worn my peplum like this before, so decided to try it and loved it. This will probably carry on being how I wear it. Or with a pencil skirt, cause I have a few of those now.

The top itself is made of quite heavy material, so I never really want to wear something heavy on top. This light khaki jacket has been sitting in my wardrobe pretty much untouched since moving to Australia, I’m not really sure why as it’s pretty great. Also a perfect jacket which is light and covers my arms, but doesn’t really provide more warmth.

The only reason I’m not completely sold on the idea of peplums is probably because this one keeps riding up. A sure sign I probably needed to go up a size. But also while wearing this I’m very conscious of my tummy, which I don’t really want to be.

Peplum top: City Chic
Jacket: Autograph
Jeans: City Chic
Flats: Target
Necklace: Tiffany’s
Cuff: Actually ankle straps taken off a new pair of flats I just bought from Target.

Blue Mountains adventure as told in pictures

Man Piece and I decided to venture out to the Blue Mountains on Saturday. It was an experience and I was in pain.

We got the train out to Katoomba – a two hour train ride.

The platform for the train was at the end of Central Station tunnels.

We’re going on an adventure! With an InterCity Train!

We’re going to make some tracks.

After two hours on the train we arrived at Katoomba, and walked to Echo Point and the Three Sisters.

The Three Sisters. Honestly, they’re just rocks – I don’t know what the fuss is all about.

Then we walked down to the look out above the Three Sisters and then walked along the top of the cliff, heading back to Katoomba.

There was some pretty interesting erosion of the sandstone. Plus people had carved their names into it.

We then headed back to Katoomba. What they don’t tell you is it is downhill walking most of the way to Echo Point, so heading back to the town was hellish – a lot of uphill. I also conquered some pretty brutal stairs, I was going to take a photo, but in all the ‘Can I die yets’, I forgot.

But I made it (Man Piece was still pretty much walking circles around me) and I was rewarded with food, glorious food (by this time I was famished and exhausted).

We went to the Espresso and Waffle Bar.

milkshake

And a chocolate milkshake which was huge and delicious.

We wandered the main street a little bit, poked our noses in to a few of the bakeries there (one of them smelt absolutely amazing with the fresh bread). I purchased a piece of chocolate truffle cake to take home. Unfortunately I didn’t snap a picture of it, but it was delicious. Nice, moist and chocolatey.

Then we caught the train back to Sydney, in which I actually fell asleep, then proceeded to be in pain for the rest of the night while lounging on the couch.
