Uniquely You Campaign with ModCloth

Last week I checked my emails to see that I had one sitting there from ModCloth. Curious, I opened it.

I was being invited to participate in the Uniquely You Campaign by ModCloth. What is it, you ask? Each week a few fashion bloggers are sent an image of a piece of clothing available through ModCloth and they have to create an outfit with up to seven other items available for sale from the store. This sounded like fun (and I’ve been in a bit of a blogging funk lately, I thought it would be just the thing to get me going again), so I was in.

The piece of the week was the Fruity Suity One Piece. (Yes, plus size. It runs up to a 26.)

The weather here in Wellington is far from swimming weather right now. Think wet and windy. Typical Wellington. So I have to create an outfit based on a swimsuit when all I can think of wrapping up in my warmest clothes and not venturing outside? Ok.

I trawled through ModCloth looking for pieces which would give me some inspiration…

Being a swimsuit, I naturally thought the beach. What would I wear to the beach?

The Coastal Clearing Hat in Red was a natural choice. Heading to the beach you definitely want to make sure you’re protected and this hat’s big brim will do just that. While its red colour plays on the red of the cherries of the swimsuit.

Sunglasses. As soon as I saw these red Car Cruise Boogie Sunglasses I didn’t need to look any further. Red was slowly becoming my theme…

A pair of sandals which can easily be slipped on and off. The Dreaming on the Dock Sandal in red (of course) fit the bill. They look like they can be slipped on easily, yet still be super comfy.

Next I wanted something that I could easily chuck on over the swim suit. Something that would be suitable to wear around while the swimsuit was worn underneath. I came across this Top of the Byline Dress, which I reckon would look great over the top casually, but could also be dressed up a little. It is also plus size and goes up to a 4X.

You always need a bag to carry your towel, sunscreen and all the other little bits and pieces and this Places to Be Bag in Aqua fitted as a good carry-all, while adding a splash of contrasting colour to the outfit.

Finally the Right Chevron Time Necklace added a little bit of bling (but not too much).

You could go from the beach to casual drinks at a seaside restaurant in no time.
