Awesome or what?

This movie looks teh awesome.

Written and directed my JJ Abrams and produced by Steven Spielberg, Super 8 looks like the sci-fi thriller of 2011.

As it goes, the Government decided to close down a part of Area 51 in 1979, so everything that was in that area had to be transported out.

The train everything was in ends up crashing in small-town Ohio. Soon after there are disappearances and weird events in the town, which the Deputy tries to uncover.

Sounds so exciting, doesn’t it!?

If that isn’t enough to hook you, the trailer is very creepy.

Cast includes Kyle Chandler (Friday Night Lights), Amanda Michalka (The Lovely Bones) and Elle Fanning (yes, that will be Dakota Fanning’s sister.)

Let’s get Smurf’d!

I’m obviously behind the times here, but…!

THE SMURFS MOVIE.

I can’t wait. I love Smurfs. They are a great thing from my childhood.

And the movie looks hilarious. With Neil Patrick Harris and Jayma Mays as actual people, because the Smurfs have being displaced from their village and found themselves smack bang in the middle of Central Park.

Eeek!

Voices for the Smurfs include Katy Perry, Johnathan Winters and Alan Cummings.

Naturally Gargamel (Hank Azaria) is on their tails and the Smurfs must find their way back to their village.

And they are so cute! Even if you can tell they are animated or whatever it is they are these days.

It is due out in August in the States. Whether that is the same for New Zealand, who knows?

All these great ideas and zero follow through.

So yesterday I watched a whole heap of Glee and then pigged out on Hells for dinner.

I’m such a winner.

Today hasn’t been much better.

I did however leave the house. Mother had things to do, so I had to take her. The obligations of a daughter.

*sigh*

My rant today: Hallmark.

Y U MAKE CARDS SO BIG?

And by big, I mean bigger than standard size. So what you think would only cost 50c to post within New Zealand now costs you a nice $1.20.

WHAT IS UP WITH THAT!?

I smell a conspiracy. Card companies have increased the sizes of cards to a minuscule degree so that you don’t notice, but when the post office person measures it, they find it is bigger than standard. Thus making you pay more. Thus the post company making more money.

Because you know they have to be making a profit somewhere in there. Just wouldn’t be a business without profit.

That’s my thoughts anyway. $1.20 to post a frickin’ card. It was a card! Ridiculous.

Hell is also making me stabby (and the people in it).

MUST GET OUT OR I WILL CUT A BITCH.

Anyway, because I had relegated myself to my room for the night because I was not wanting to have any contact with parents, I decided to start going though some clothes.

I wanted to be brutal. Then I couldn’t. I don’t know why.

I wish I could just chuck everything I own out and start all over again. It would be so much easier.

I then started on my shoes.

I didn’t get very far there either.

I have so many of them and there are many pairs that I don’t know what to do with them. So they are sitting in the ‘unclassified’ pile of ‘What the hell do I do with you?’

I love my sorting titles. They are teh lolz.

I’ve done two job applications in the last two days. It’s something. Just wish that job would come along already. Hastings makes me angry.

Plus there is the wanting to move to Wellington so I can be with Man Piece.

Yeah.

Cookies and cream cheesecake.

This is a fairly easy cheesecake to make and it goes down well with everyone. It’s also a great one for individual portions, instead of one big cheesecake, but you can do that too.

Ingredients

250g plain chocolate biscuits
100g butter, melted
150g packet of chocolate cream-filled biscuits (oreos)
50g dark eating chocolate, melted
2 teaspoons gelatine
2 tablespoons water
375g cream cheese, softened
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 cup (110g) caster sugar
300ml cream
180g white eating chocolate, melted

1. Grease one 24cm spring-form tin.
2. Process plain biscuits in food processor; add melted butter. Press mixture flat into the tin. Refrigerate.
3. Make filling by sprinkling gelatine over the water in a small heatproof jug; stand jug in small saucepan of simmering water. Stir until gelatine dissolves; cool 5 minutes.
4. Beat cheese, extract and sugar in medium bowl with electric mixer until smooth; beat in cream. Stir in white chocolate, gelatine mixture and cut up biscuits.
5. Pour filling on top of base and refrigerate overnight.
6. Serve topped with dark chocolate.

Tips

Instead of one big cheesecake, you will need an 80cm length of 50mm diameter PVC pipe, cut into 10cm lengths; ask the hardware store to do this for you, or use a hacksaw.
You will need to grease each pipe and line with baking paper.
Place one biscuit in each pipe – creme biscuits – so you will need two packets instead of one and you won’t need the plain chocolate biscuits.

For the big cheesecake I tend to put a bit more cream cheese in. Usually 500g, which is just 2 tubs. I also tend to add just a little bit more cream, but leave everything else the same. It works fine.

With the white chocolate, because it will be warm and the cheesecake mixture will be room temperature, you will find the chocolate will set quite quickly. As soon as you start pouring the chocolate in, you’ll need to start mixing it in. It will still turn hard, but you have a chance to mix it in before it turns into one big lump.

I tend not to serve it with chocolate on top. It is rich enough as it is. I usually just serve it with a bit of whipped cream.

As there are different flavours of oreos now, I like to mix it up a bit and buy a different flavour each time. I started using the original, but then found the chocolate filling. I find it is a bit better than the original white filling. There is now strawberry filling too. Can’t wait to try that!

When mixing the gelatine with the water, I find the best way to do this is to sit a small bowl in the top of my jug. This won’t be possible with every jug, but my one has a fully removable lid, which allows me to sit a bowl in without it falling in. I then boil the jug and just leave it. Works wonders.

Enjoy! Nom nom nom!

Rebecca Black ruined Bob Dylan?

THIS is the best version of Rebecca Black’s single Friday. I stand corrected.

I’m not obsessed. I swear.

I just really hate the song when she sings it.

It’s actually quite catchy when other people sing it. Yanno, people with less annoying voices.

I was just reading some of the comments under the video, so it’s actually a Bob Dylan song? Which she has completely ruined!?

CAN SOMEONE CONFIRM THIS FOR ME!?

I’m not a huge Bob Dylan fan, although I have listened to some of his stuff and do have some of his songs, I am unaware of this one.

If so, Rebecca Black has completely ruined a Bob Dylan song and should be ousted from the music industry forever.

NOBODY RUINS BOB DYLAN.

Update: It’s a fake. Confirmed by OK Magazine. Pretty believable though, right?
